The project of the Rehabilitation of the Commercial Area in the Old City of Bethlehem is launched

Within BethlehemMunicipality and Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) plan and their devoted pursuit to develop the city of Bethlehem and to render the best services for the citizens; the first phase of the project of the Rehabilitation of the Commercial Area in the Old City of Bethlehem has started.

 

This project aims to find an adequate and encouraging shopping environment for the citizens through organizing the traffic movement and forming suitable pedestrian lanes.

The project work plan will be divided as follows:

 

1st Phase: Bab Zqaq to Dalila Round from July 4th to August 17th, 2013

2nd Phase: Dalila Round to Al-Cinema Round from July 17th to August 21st, 2013

3rd Phase: Al-Cinema Round to Al-Bandak Round from August 25th to October 6th, 2013

4th Phase: Al-Bandak Round to Al-Salesian School from September 14th to November 20th, 2013

Pedestrians and cars can easily have access to the main market. BethlehemMunicipality and CCHP are doing their best to cause the least disturbance to the citizens and the shops’ owners within the duration of the project and they highly appreciate everyone’s collaboration and consideration to conclude this project successfully.

 

It is worth mentioning that Bethlehem Municipality and CCHP are implementing the project of Rehabilitation of the Commercial Area in the Old City of Bethlehem – Paul VI Street with fund from the Italian Government-Italian General Consulate in Jerusalem, through the Palestinian Municipalities Support Programme (PMSP) and co-financed by Municipality of Vicenza, Padova and AIM-Spa in Vicenza.
