"THE TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE HERITAGE THAT EXISTS FROM PREVIOUS GENERATIONS PROVIDES A LINK BETWEEN PEOPLE AND THEIR PAST"

The Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation honors the winners in the Drawing and Writing Competition in Bethlehem District

contest2 09 Within the framework of the Awareness Programmes and Campaigns, funded by the Swedish International Development Agency-Sida, the Center for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) has implemented for the second time a Drawing and Writing Competition in Bethlehem District, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in Bethlehem. The competition targeted students aged between 13-16 years which aimed to introduce the students to their cultural heritage and emphasize the need to preserving this heritage.

 

CCHP has organized on Thursday 10th of December 2009 an Award Ceremony for the announcement of the competition results with the presence of Mr. Abd Allah Shakarna Director of the Ministry of Education-Bethlehem, Mr. Fuad Salem Director General of Bethlehem Governorate, Mr. Wajih Abed Rabbo Director of Public Relations and Media in the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Mass Media and number of the directors and students from the participating schools.

 

Mr. Issam Juha, Director of CCHP, has emphasized on the importance of implementing various Awareness programmes and campaigns targeting different groups of the civil society in Bethlehem District, for the protection and the sustainability of our Cultural Heritage. He also announced that the Calendar for the year 2010 published by CCHP is dedicated to demonstrate these various awareness programs carried by CCHP, with special emphasis on the distinctive results of the Drawing and Writing Competition.

 

Mr. Abd Allah Shakarna, in his turn thanked CCHP for their efforts aiming to raise public awareness about our Cultural Heritage and the need for protecting it.  Moreover, he emphasized on the importance of cooperation between the local organizations and CCHP in implementing such programmes, and congratulated the students and schools for their participation wishing them all the success.

 

calendar 10 Ms. Mays Yatim – Salsa', Head of Awareness and Public Relations in CCHP, clarified that the competition was employed to introduce the students to their cultural heritage and encourage them to communicate and express their own heritage through their writings and drawings. As well, she pointed out that more than 30 schools including governmental schools, private schools as well as the United Nations Relief and Works Agency schools - UNRWA, participated with nearly 1000 contribution from students aged between 13-16 years old.

 

During the event Mr. Sami Al-Hourani and Mr. Fayez Ja'ara, were honored for their generous support in the assessment of students' participation in the Drawing and Writing competition for this year.

 

At the end of the event, CCHP has awarded the most distinctive participations whom are as follows:
