CCHP Participates in a Tour to Advocate the Inscription of Bethlehem on the World Heritage List

media tour2012 Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) and the Municipality of Bethlehem participated in the advocacy campaign that accompanies the Palestinian bid to inscribe Bethlehem on the World Heritage List which shall be voted during the 36th session of the World Heritage Convention, held in Saint Petersburg between 24 June and 6 July, 2012, Russian Federation, participated in an official delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in receiving representatives of the international and local media in the town.


The tour started at the Catholic Action Club Square where journalists with a briefing about the tour by Mr. Xavier Abu Eid, from PLO Negotiation Department, followed by a technical briefing about the nomination document; Birthplace of Jesus: Church of the Nativity and the Pilgrimage Route, presented by architect Nada Atrash, the head of the Research and Training at CCHP. A tour by Mr. George Rishmawi, the expert in alternative tourism was later led along the pilgrimage Route.
 

Mr. George Saadeh, the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Bethlehem received the media at the Manger square and stressed that this is our right, and now, to recognize the significant value of Bethlehem and its cultural heritage. At the end of the tour Mr. Saadeh, and Dr. Omar Awadallah from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered the questions that were raised by the media in a press conference that was held in the Municipality
