Workshop for setting a management plan to the old city of Burqin

Burqin-workshop In cooperation with Al-Najjah University and Burqin Municipality, The Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation have organized a workshop with student of the Planning Faculty on August 19, 2014 held in the Korean hall in Al-Najjah University - Nablus. The workshop aimed at discussing the result of the surveys the students have conducted. It also aimed at emphasizing the importance of the Rehabilitation of the Urban Sites in Burqin funded by the United States Agency for International UNITED STATES AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (USAID) through the WEST BANK COMPETE PROJECT.

 

The workshop was attended by Mr. Mohamad Al-Omleh; vice president of Al-Najjah University, Dr. Ali Abd Al-Hamid; the Dean of the Engineering Department in Al-Najjah University, Mr. Mohammad Sabah; the mayor of Burqin, Dr. Walid Al Shariff; representative from Compete project and Arch. Issam Juha, Director of CCHP alongside The CCHP staff  and students attended the workshop. 

 

The workshop began by welcoming; thanking and appreciation speeches to everyone who have contributed in making this vital and development project a success by Arch Issam Juha, Mr. Mohammad Sabah and Mr. Mohammad Omleh. In their speech, they pay tribute to projects that aim at preserving our cultural heritage and the management of the cultural heritage sites for its role in boosting the tourism in the area and especially domestic tourism. 

 

Burqin-workshop-1 The Students presented a PowerPoint Presentation in which they have discussed the mechanism for preserving and protecting our cultural heritage in the old town of Burqin. They also discussed the outcomes and the results of the survey and the research conducted in town. The students also discussed their recommendations to the CCHP and they gave plans that suit the old town in which it aims at reviving the old town touristic and economically.
