Dar Musleh signing agreements

sign musleh3 Among its wide collection of rehabilitation projects in Bethlehem District, funded by the Government of Sweden / Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), through United Nations Educational, Scientific, Culture Organization (UNESCO) – Ramallah Office, Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) has signed the agreement to rehabilitate Dar Musleh building in Beit Sahour with Arab Orthodox Charitable Society, the partner organization of the project.

 

CCHP in cooperation with Beit Sahour Municipality and Arab Orthodox Charitable Society, arranged a workshop in this day to introduce the project of rehabilitating Dar Musleh, with the presence of number of local organizations representatives.

 

Mr. Hani Al-Hayek, Mayor of Beit Sahour praised the role of the CCHP in adapting our traditional building and preserving our cultural identity, and stressed the need to protect such sites and buildings providing headquarters for the local organizations to serve the community.

 

In turn, Dr. Elias Iseid thanked all who contributed to the success of this day and provided a simplified definition about the Society and their role in serving the local community, and praised the role of CCHP in preserving cultural heritage.

 

sign musleh2015 Arch Issam Juha, Director of the CCHP pointed out that this project is part of the programme "Local Development through the Rehabilitation and Revitalization of the Historic Built Environment in Palestine", funded from the Swedish Government, emphasizing on the importance on implementing this specific project which is considered compliment to previus interventions done by CCHP in the historic centre of Beit Sahour, and which shall be an attraction point to locals and tourists alike.

 

Arch. Luma Qumsieh-Khoury has submitted presentation including the strategy of the Centre in preserving cultural heritage and the implementation phases of the project, which includes the proposed designs and functions, in addition to displaying pictures of some projects of the Centre before and after rehabilitation.
