battir2 bustudents2016 As a part of the advocacy campaign carried out by the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation – Bethlehem (CCHP), the Centre organized a field trip to Battir on Sunday, 3 April 2016. M.A. students from BethlehemUniversity in the field of Cultural Heritage and Tourism participated in this trip to explore the hiking trail that connects Al-Makhrour -Beit Jala with the Village of Battir.

 

The trip was organized in cooperation with Bethlehem University, and aimed to introduce the participants to the cultural and urban tourism sites in the governorate. The trip started by taking the walking trail from Al-Makhrour area (Beit Jala city) to the village of Battir.

 

battir bustudents2016 Reaching Battir village, the group toured the city and its famous spring. The group was introduced to the farming methods in the Palestinian villages, and to the one of the rehabilitated projects used as a locale for Battir Landscape Eco-museum Office; which was the last stop of the trail. The participants have enjoyed the field trip and described their visit as adventurous, interesting and a clear example of the rich variety of the cultural landscapes in Palestine which represents the product of a continuous human interaction with the surrounding nature.
