Delegation from USAID visits the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation

A USAID – DAI Compete Project delegation headed by Conan Peisen -Director- Economic Growth Office visited the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) on Wednesday, 12 November 2014 with the aim to observe the projects funded by the USAID in the West Bank in general and particularly in Bethlehem.

 

Arch. Issam Juha; the director of CCHP, and the staff welcomed the delegation where Arch. Juha thanked them for their visit and support to those vital and pioneer projects in the region. He also gave a PowerPoint presentation about the centre and its projects in addition to introducing the "Urban Sites Rehabilitation Projects in Bethlehem, Bethany and Burqin" funded by the Agency.

 

Following the presentation was a tour to the current projects in Bethlehem to observe the work and the importance of such projects in the region, where Ms. Vira Baboun Mayor of Bethlehem welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their efforts in these projects that aim at revitalizing the historic centre of Bethlehem and brining it back to life.

 

The delegation expressed its joy and pride to be in Bethlehem city and towards the efforts of the centre in implementing such projects and preserving the cultural heritage for the benefit of the local community. The site visit ended in Battir village by having a traditional Palestinian lunch there.
