The project was implemented by the CCHP and funded through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency "Sida" to be used after rehabilitation for the Beit Sahour Municipality as a headquarter for the Mayor office, the Project Development, the Public Relations Department and the Youth Council.

Governor of Bethlehem Mr. Abdul Fattah Hamayel, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Kholoud Deibes, Head of Development at the Swedish Consulate Mr. Peter Lundberg, British Council General Sir Vincent Fean, owner of the building, local organizations, inhabitants and the contractor attended the ceremony of inaugurating Dar Abu Sa'da.

After touring in the building and monitoring the changes made, Mr. Hani Al-Hayek Mayor of Beit Sahour welcomed the audience and emphasized on the presence of Dr. Salam Fayyad for giving hope and future for all especially the inhabitants of Beit Sahour.  Moreover, Mr. Al-Hayek pointed to the role of the CCHP in supporting the municipality and preserving the cultural heritage which reflect our identity.  As well, thanked all who worked for the success of this project and other projects, especially the British Consulate for furnishing Dar Abu Sa'da building.

Arhc. Issam Juha, Director of CCHP pointed out that this project funded by Sida is part of the programme "Job creating through rehabilitation" which aims at decreasing the percentage of the unemployment rate through preserving the cultural heritage.  This programme has created more than 50.000 working days.  As well, Juha draw the attention to the fact that the CCHP has been able till now to rehabilitate more than 25 buildings and prepare them for adaptive reuse.  This project is considered the third one of its kind in Beit Sahour, through a comprehensive plan to revitalize the historic centre in Beit Sahour in cooperation with the municipality.

Mr. Lundberg expressed the proud of the Swedish government in helping and contributing in preserving the Palestinian cultural heritage due to its importance to the Palestinian people.

Dr. Salam Fayyad expressed his happiness for being in Beit Sahour especially for such occasion which shows our identity, culture and heritage, where he emphasized on the role of the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) and its efforts in preserving the cultural heritage.  Moreover, Dr. Salam Fayyad congratulated the Beit Sahour municipality and inhabitants for the new locale which will influence the economy conditions and tourism, and thanked all people contributed to the success of the project especially the workers, contractor, municipality, the CCHP and owner of the building.

After which, the CCHP and contractor presented gifts to all those who contributed and facilitated the success of the rehabilitation works, especially Dr. Salam Fayyad for supporting conservation initiatives for cultural heritage and preserving the Palestinian identity.

It is worth noting that Dar Abu Sa'da was built late in the nineteenth century, and consists of two floors of 450 square meters.  Rehabilitation works started in July 2010, and contributed to create 4046 working days and 60 temporary jobs.  The total budget of the project reached 746.540 NIS.
