CCHP honors the winners in the Drawing and Writing Contest

contest2011 ac1 The Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) and for the 4th time, has organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education – Bethlehem for Drawing and Writing Contest with school children (13 – 16 years) in the Bethlehem District, within the framework of the Awareness programmes and campaigns implemented by the CCHP.


This contest funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), aims to introduce the students to the cultural heritage and emphasize its value in their conscious and the urge need to preserve it.

 

Within this context, the CCHP has organized an Award Ceremony on Tuesday 7th June to announce the winners, with the presence of Mr. Abdullah Shakarnah director of the Ministry of Education Bethlehem, Mass Media, schools' principles, students and parents.

 

contest2011 ac2 Mr. Issam Juha, Director of CCHP, has emphasized on the importance of implementing various Awareness programmes and campaigns targeting different groups of the civil society in Bethlehem District, for the protection and the sustainability of our Cultural Heritage. Moreover, Mr. Juha assured the ambitious of CCHP to go forward in implementing similar activities, especially the Young Engineer Project which aims to introduce the students to the traditional architecture development, conservation techniques and traditional construction methods used to build those buildings.


Mr. Abdullah Shakarnah, in his turn thanked CCHP for their efforts aiming to raise public awareness about our Cultural Heritage and the need for protecting it.  Moreover, he emphasized on the importance of cooperation between the local organizations and CCHP in implementing such programmes, and congratulated the students and schools for their participation wishing them all the success.

 

contest2011 ac3 Ms. Mays Yatim – Salsa', Head of Awareness and Public Relations in CCHP, clarified that the contest was employed to introduce the students to their cultural heritage and encourage them to communicate and express their own heritage through their writings and drawings. As well, she pointed out that more than 10 schools including governmental schools and private schools participated with nearly 450 contribution from students aged between 13-16 years old.

 

During the event Mr. Sami Al-Hourani was honored for his generous support in the assessment of students' participation in the Drawing and Writing contest for this year.  At the end of the event, CCHP has awarded the most distinctive participations whom are as follows:

1st prize: Yara Yousef (Electronic Dictionary)
2nd prize: Malek Odah (Back bag with accessories)
3rd prize: Nicol Sim'an (Flash Memory 8 GB)
4th prize: Nour Murra (Drawing tools)
5th prize: Sara Qasrawi (Drawing tools)

Drawing Contest, Group B (15-16 years)
1st prize: Jabra Khoury (Electronic Dictionary)
2nd prize: Ihab Zablah (Back bag with accessories)
3rd prize: Elias Sabat (Flash Memory 8 GB)
4th prize: Aya Kan'an (Drawing tools)
5th prize: Taleen Baboun (Drawing tools)

Writing Contest, Group A (13-14 years)
1st prize: Maram Salahat (Electronic Dictionary)
2nd prize: Mohammed Jibreen (Back bag with accessories)
3rd prize: Tamar Haddah (Flash Memory 8 GB)
4th prize: Imad Hazboun (Office Supplies)
5th prize: Shorouq Ayyad (Office Supplies)
