Hosh Al-Syrian Workshop

syrian agreement In partnership with Bethlehem Municipality, CCHP held a workshop about "The Rehabilitation Project of Hosh Al-Syrian and reusing it as a Guest House", funded by the Italian government through the Paletinian Municipality Support Programme (PMSP). The workshop took place in Bethlehem Municipality and was attended by Dr. Victor Batarseh  mayor of Bethlehem, Fr. Boutros Nie'meh the pastor of Syrian Orthodox Church, Mr. Antonio la Rocca PMSP representative and Arch. Issam Juha director of CCHP, As well as council members, and locals from Bethlehem city.

 

The workshop also included the signing of the extension agreement between the owners and the partners represented in the mayor of Bethlehem, CCHP director, The Virgin Mary Syrian Orthodox Church Wakf Committee, The Antonian Charitable Society and property owner Habib Qattan.

 

Batarseh pointed out to similar projects set up by the municipality in partnership with the CCHP,  such as Al-Mas'oudi, and mentioned others that will be implemented in the future, such as the planning for the rehabilitation Paul VI Street, and Al-Madbaseh Street, the old town, and capacity-building project for the municipal departments of Bethlehem.  These projects aim to preserve the traditional sites in Bethlehem.

 

Director of CCHP Arch. Issam Juha, indicated the objectives of Hosh Al-Syrian project and its importance to its surroundings, as well as the efforts CCHP has been doing to preserve cultural heritage sites in the Bethlehem District. Two presentations followed, for the project plans and the various stages, by the Arch. Faten Lafi.  the other one was on the importance of preserving cultural heritage and the need for community participation, which aims at enhancing their awareness of its importance, by Mr. Mohamed Owaineh.
