The trip was organized in cooperation with Battir Landscape Eco-museum Office, and aimed to introduce the future workers in the field of tourism to the cultural and urban tourism sites in the governorate. The trip started by walking the way from Al-Makhrour area (Beit Jala city) to the village of Battir. Along the walk, short notes about the rehabilitation and management of cultural routes and the role of cultural tourism in development, in addition to historic information about the Makhrour-Battir Route.
Reaching Battir village the group was introduced to the city, its famous spring, the farming methods in the Palestinian villages, and one of the rehabilitated projects used as a locale for Battir Landscape Eco-museum Office; the ending point of the trail, where the participants had lunch and watched a video about the history of Battir. Students described their visit as being adventurous, interesting and a clear practical example of what they have studied, and expressed their happiness over the experience.
The Battir Landscape Eco-museum is a project implemented by Battir Village Council in cooperation with the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation – Bethlehem (CCHP), the technical consultant, and is funded by the Government of Italy through the Palestinian Municipalities Support Programme (PMSP).
