Awareness and Voluntary work campaign in Bethlehem District

ipyl 2012 CCHP in cooperation with Battir Eco Museum, Bethlehem Municipality, and Beit Sahour Municipality coordinated a voluntary work programme for Palestinians and foreign youth from different countries, through the International Palestinian Youth League (IPYL) from July 2 to July 5, 2012.

 

On Monday July 2 and Tuesday July 3, 2012 Eng. Michel Nasser, coordinator of the Battir Landscape Eco Museum Project hosted the group in Battir where they were involved in cleaning activities and building traditional walls (Sensal).  On Wednesday July 4, CCHP hosted them in Bethlehem where they were divided into 2 groups.  Arch. Faten Lafi from CCHP, Ms. Carmen Ghattas, PR office and Eng. Wissam Odeh from the municipality took group "A" in a tour to the Rehabilitation of Hosh Al-Syriac in Bethlehem for the adaptive reuse as a guest house project, and presented a brief description regarding the project and its phases, where they worked afterward on the visibility study for the project.

 

Group "B" accompanied Ms. Mays Salsa', PR and Public Awareness Office at CCHP, in a tour to the Urban Requalification of Old Market Square in Beit Sahour Project.  After which, the group headed to Dar Abu Sa'da building, where Ms. Naela Hayek, PR Office and Mr. Anton Musleh director of the municipality welcomed the group.


A brief description about CCHP, and the project and its phases was presented by Mr. Salsa'.  Group "B" was able to prepare and suggest an operational plan on how to operate the square properly after rehabilitation.

Thursday July 5, the group was involved in some of the rehabilitation works related to the Urban Requalification of Old Market Square in Beit Sahour Project, under the supervision of Eng. Nadine Rishmawi.
