Heritage for Development Workshop

meeting-at-salt 2013 Within the activities of Heritage for Development Project (Her4Dev): investing in people for the rehabilitation & management of historic city centre), CCHP organized a workshop for the project's partners in Amman from the 24th – 26th of June, 2013.

 

The groups working on this project in Bethlehem, Ramallah and Al-Salt attended this workshop, in addition to representatives from Engineering and Planning department of the three municipalities and council member of Ramallah municipality and the President of the RehabiMed Association.

 

During the workshop, the participants reviewed the achievements of the project for each city, evaluated the accomplishments and discussed it, studying the difficulties and challenged of each city and offering suggestions and solutions.

 

meeting-mayor 2013 Moreover, coming steps of the project and details of conservation and protection plan and rehabilitation and maintenance manual to be done for each site have been discussed, evaluating the project's outputs and their integration with the needs of the cities and possibilities of application through municipal councils within the framework of planning and regulation laws in Palestine and Jordan.

 

The workshop included also a visit to the historic centre of city of Al-Salt, and meeting with the mayor of Al-Salt to discuss the course of the project in the city and study the possibilities of application of the outputs of the project plans and studies for the Protection and Development of the old city of Al-Salt.

 

The Heritage for Development (Her4Dev): investing in people for the rehabilitation and management of historic towns project is funded by the European Commission under the "Investing in People – Development Cooperation Instrument: Strengthening Capacities in the Cultural Sector”, and is implemented by the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation in partnership with RehabiMed Association, Riwaq- Center for Architectural Conservation and Cultural Technologies. The project is implemented in cooperation with the municipalities of As Salt, Ramallah and Bethlehem.
