The theme of the meeting focused on discussing the second draft of the regulations to maintain the architectural heritage of the city of Bethlehem (historic areas and individual historical buildings) and its annexes, which is being done by the project team of CCHP in collaboration with the Municipality of Bethlehem. These regulations are expected to provide protection to the historic areas and individual historic buildings and maintain the traditional architecture fabric in the city of Bethlehem, in addition to organizing the construction work and additions in the old town and individual historic buildings in Bethlehem.
This meeting was attended by members of the municipal council of Bethlehem, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Local Government and Bethlehem Governorate, as well as to representatives from the local community and municipalities engineers of Bethlehem, Beit Jala and Beit Sahour and the staff of CCHP.
The Heritage for Development (Her4Dev): investing in people for the rehabilitation and management of historic towns project is funded by the European Commission under the "Investing in People – Development Cooperation Instrument: Strengthening Capacities in the Cultural Sector”, and is implemented by the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation in partnership with RehabiMed Association, Riwaq- Center for Architectural Conservation and Cultural Technologies. The project is implemented in cooperation with the municipalities of As Salt, Ramallah and Bethlehem.
