This project aims to contribute to retaining the significance of Palestinian cultural heritage, by defining a coherent preservation strategy, adequate to the local context, and responding to the needs and requirements of the local community. Moreover, it aims to prepare a Tourism Development plan to number of tourists coming to town.
Rehabilitation works include development of all infrastructure networks, street paving, development of lighting networks, and beautify the facades of the surrounding buildings. The project is funded the Swedish Government/Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency "Sida" through the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture Organization (UNESCO) under the programme "Local Development through the Rehabilitation and Revitalization of the Historic Built Environment in Palestine".
