Participatory planning for the Rehabilitation of the Commercial Area in the Old City of Bethlehem – Paul VI Street

madbaseh july2013 Bethlehem Municipality in cooperation with Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) held a participatory planning meeting with the community for the Rehabilitation of the Commercial Area in the Old City of Bethlehem – Paul VI Street, funded by the Italian government through the Palestinian Municipalities Support Programme on Thursday, 18th of July, in Vienna Hall at the Municipality.

 

The meeting was attended by Mr. Anwar Shabaneh from Local Government, Major Ayman Abd El-Qader, Director of Traffic Police, Lt. Abdullah Dheidel from Traffic Police, and Arch. Issam Juha director of the CCHP, follow-up committee for the project, shopkeepers and inhabitants of the area and representatives of community organizations.

 

madbaseh july22013 Arch. Majed Shawawreh, project supervisor presented the work plan and sections of the project, and the necessary interventions in the area, assuring the flow of work and standards to adherence to the timetable without harming the beneficiaries and users of the project area.

 

At the end of the meeting, the door was opened for any feedback and recommendations of the audience to be taken into account in the designs related to the project stemming from the needs and demands of society.  It is worth mentioning that all agreed that this project is a community project based on the needs and requirements of the community to serve the public interest and within an organized system and a deliberate policy.
