Dr. Ali Abd Al-Hamid, the Dean of Engineering Faculty at An-Najah National University attended the meeting along with Dr. Walid Al-Sharif from Compete Project, the Mayor and members of Burqin Municipality and representatives of a number of civil institutions. The Mayor of Burqin Municipality Mr. Mohammad Sobh started the meeting by welcoming the audience and praising the projects and initiatives to preserve and manage the cultural heritage that affects positively the tourism sector especially the national tourism.
Arch. Issam Juha, the director of CCHP stated the importance of the Burqin projects, and reinforced the cultural and religious significance of Burqin and the economical, environmental and touristy affect of such projects hoping for productive outcomes of the meeting.
Mrs. Mays Salsa’; the head of Public Awareness and Relations at CCHP, presented a PowerPoint about the Centre and the projects and activities that the Centre has implemented since its establishment. Mrs. Salsa’ focused on the importance of engaging and participating of the civil community in preserving the cultural heritage.
Afterwards Arch. Luma Qumsieh-Khoury; the head of Rehabilitation Unit at CCHP presented the techniques and methodologies in rehabilitation and implementation of the renovation projects. She also explained how to employ the historical buildings as a mean of development and adjusting it to modern use.
Moreover Arch. Nada Al-Atrash; the head of Research and Training Unit at CCHP presented a PowerPoint on strategic planning and the plans to manage and preserve the cultural sites and how to preserve them and employ them as a tool for touristy development in the region. At the end of the session, the floor was opened for discussion where suggestions, ideas, and feedback were taken from the community. Following was a tour in town to get to know the suggested locations and to visit the significance places in town.
