Rehabilitation signing agreements

tulkarem sign Among its wide collection of rehabilitation projects in Bethlehem District, funded by the Government of Sweden / Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), through United Nations Educational, Scientific, Culture Organization (UNESCO) – Ramallah Office, Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) has signed the agreement to rehabilitate the facilities of Tulkarem Church with the Orthodox Charitable Society, the partner organization of the project.

 

tulkarem sign4 Mr. Iyad Jallad, Mayor of Tulkarem praised the role of the CCHP in adapting our traditional building and preserving our cultural identity, and stressed the need to protect such sites and buildings providing headquarters for the local organizations to serve the community.  In turn, Mr. Daoud Khar’ouba, pastor of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, pointed the importance of this project to protect and maintain the church and its facilities for the adaptive reuse for the benefit of the community.

 

Arch Issam Juha, Director of the CCHP pointed out that this project is part of the programme "Local Development through the Rehabilitation and Revitalization of the Historic Built Environment in Palestine", funded from the Swedish Government, emphasizing on the importance on implementing this specific project which shall be an attraction point to locals and tourists alike.
