The Mayor of Battir; Eng. Akram Bader welcomes the audience and thanked the Historian Khalil Shokeh for his continuous and hard work in documenting the memory of Battir which is considered a mean of preserving our heritage. Eng. Bader highlighted the importance and the responsibility each citizen holds in preserving the cultural heritage and ended his speech by thanking each and everyone who contributed in the book especially CCHP.
In his speech, Arch. Issam Juha director of CCHP noted that this is not the first joint work between the Council and the centre in the village, and stressed the importance of the role of the local community in the success of the cultural heritage preservation projects for the best interest of Palestine, especially in the current circumstances, and this book is one form of resistance.
Mr. Aziz Al-Assa introduced the book and addressed its contents and information, pointing to the need to systematize research and develop a clear policy of any historical document, and praised the style of the writer in the selection of the book and its contents with some observations to be taken into account for the future.
Mr. Khalil Shokeh thanked all those who contributed to the enrichment of this research, and mentioned the expansion and the changes that have taken place to the area, stressing the importance and prestige of the village of Battir, especially for him since childhood. He then reviewed some pictures and records of the project area in ancient times at different intervals.
