Arch. Issam Juha, Deputy Mayor of Bethlehem and director of CCHP welcomed the participants and talked about the Star Street and its importance as a World Heritage Site, stressing on the role of youth people in saving our cultural heritage and confirming our Palestinian Identity.
Ms. Mays Salsa’, head of Public Awareness and PR at CCHP, and Ms. Carmen Ghattas PR officer at the municipality explained the roles and directions of the activity to the participants.
More than 50 youth participated in the competition from 12-15 years old, from the Terra Santa Scout, De la Sal, Syrian Scout, St. Joseph Scout, and Evangelical / Baptist Scout.
Participants were divided into five groups, where they started searching for clues and information in the Historic Centre of Bethlehem reaching to Vienna Hall, where each group used the collected information in answering the competition's questions. The event included fun activities, afterward which the first three winning groups were honored.
In turn, one of the participants thanked the organizers of the activity and expressed him happiness in being part of such important activity, which gave him the opportunity, even though not to win, to combine with other scout groups and discover our cultural heritage.
It is worth mentioning that this event is funded by the Government of Sweden – the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency “Sida” through UNESCO, and is part of the CCHP’s initiatives to emphasize the value and importance of the cultural heritage among the locals.
