The event was attended by Governor of Bethlehem Mr. Abdul Fatah Hamayel, H.E. Dr. Kholoud Deibes Minister of MOTA, Mayor of Al-Ubeidyeh Mr. Suleiman Al-Asa, and Chairman of the Joint Service of East Rural Areas Mr. Khader Hamdan, owners of the buildings, projects contractors and number of representatives from local community organizations.
Mr. Khalil Mubarak, Chairman of Dar Salah Village Council welcomed the attendees and praised the role of each of the Swedish government, the owners of the building and the CCHP for its efforts in reviving the heritage and preserving our cultural identity and contributes to job creation.
Dr. Deibes thanked the Swedish Government for its continued support of infrastructure projects and traditional buildings to be used for productive, social, and cultural and health purposes. As well, she stressed on the importance of preserving the cultural heritage as part of the Palestinian struggle and promotes the cultural Identity, and praised the efforts of the CCHP in this field since 2001 and all who contributed to the success of these projects.
In turn, Governor Hamayel expressed his delight to inaugurate this building, which carries a lot of memories and requested everyone to unite and continue efforts to preserve our cultural heritage which represents the authenticity and roots of the Palestinian people.
Arch. Issam Juha, director of CCHP pointed out that these projects come within the "Job Creation through Rehabilitation" programme which started in 2005, and helped up to now in rehabilitating more that 25 traditional building for adaptive reuse for the benefit of the community. Moreover, Arch. Juha thanked Dar Salah Village Council, Governorate, and Swedish government, owners of the buildings, projects contractors and technical team of the two projects for their efforts.
The ceremony included folklore show from Yasser Arafat Secondary School for Girls. At the end of the ceremony, Dar Salah Village Council honored the MOTA, CCHP, contractors and owners of the buildings, Eng. Omar Al-Amla, Alternative Information Centre, and Arch. Mohammed Qattoush for their efforts. After which, the audience had a tour in the first project, and the second project where they watched a presentation showing the buildings before and after.
