Inscribing Battir on the World Heritage List

Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) in Bethlehem, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Bethlehem Municipality is working on preparing the nomination document to inscribe Palestine, Land of Olives and Vines: Cultural Landscape of Southern Jerusalem, Battir on the World Heritage List.

Madbaseh 3rd1 Bethlehem Municipality in cooperation with Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) held a participatory planning meeting with the community for the Rehabilitation of the Commercial Area in the Old City of Bethlehem – Paul VI Street, funded by the Italian government through the Palestinian Municipalities Support Programme on Tuesday, 29th of January, in Vienna Hall at the Municipality.

Route of Battir

CCHP organized a tour to Battir – through the route, for the German tour organizers, in order to promote the hike between Beit Jala and Battir, as well, CCHP emphasized the German involvement in Battir.  This tour, which took place on the 29th of January, is part of the cooperation between CCHP and Net Tours to promote the route of Battir.

Route of Battir

CCHP organized for a hike tour to Battir with German speaking Arab guides and Dr. Georg Rowekamp, the General Director of all the offices and Biblische Reisen in Germany and Austrian on the 23rd of January.  Through this tour they visited the Eco-Museum in Battir and were introduced to the plants and animals that inhabit this region and mentioned in the Bible.  This tour is part of the cooperation between CCHP and Net Tours to promote the route of Battir.
