"THE TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE HERITAGE THAT EXISTS FROM PREVIOUS GENERATIONS PROVIDES A LINK BETWEEN PEOPLE AND THEIR PAST"
Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) in cooperation with Riwaq - Centre for Architectural Conservation Ramallah, and with the fund of the Government of Wallonia in Belgium through the Institute of Walloon Heritage (IPW) and Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI), intend to rehabilitate Dar Morcos Nassar building in the historic town of Bethlehem. This project comes within the efforts of CCHP, and the municipality of Bethlehem to maintain the cultural heritage and its sources in Bethlehem District.
Within the efforts devoted to protect and manage the historic centre of Bethlehem, CCHP in cooperation with the Bethlehem Municipality, and in partnership with the French School of Architecture of Versailles, organized a summer workshop for architecture students from France, from the 18th – 26th of April, 2013. The outcomes of this workshop will contribute to the efforts devoted for the protection and management of the Bethlehem Historic Centre.
Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) has organized a tour to the Minister of Culture, directors of the ministry's offices and representatives of the advisory councils, on Wednesday the 24th of April. The tour aimed to introduce the delegation to the various cultural heritage resources in Bethlehem District, and enhance the knowledge of the value and importance of these resources, and which comes within the community participation programme funded by the Government of Sweden - Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency "Sida" through the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization "UNESCO" - Ramallah Office.
As part of the participatory approach along with the rehabilitation projects that the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) is implementing for the traditional buildings in Bethlehem District, CCHP has organized a voluntary workday in the historic centre of Bethlehem on Friday 19th of April with Youth from Beit Sahour Orthodox Group and the Bethlehem Star Cultural Centre.
