"THE TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE HERITAGE THAT EXISTS FROM PREVIOUS GENERATIONS PROVIDES A LINK BETWEEN PEOPLE AND THEIR PAST"
Within its wide collection of rehabilitation projects funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency "Sida" through United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture Organization (UNESCO) Ramallah Office, Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation has signed the agreements to rehabilitate Dar Saba in Beit Sahour, with Al-Malath Charitable Society, partner organization who will be using the building after rehabilitation, and owner of the building, where Beit Sahour Municipality witnessed the signing.
On the occasion of inscribing Birthplace of Jesus: Church of the Nativity and the Pilgrimage Route, Bethlehem, Palestine on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and Bethlehem Municipality are organizing a festival to celebrate the inscription. The festival shall be held under the patronage of his Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, and his Excellency Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
The World Heritage Committee has inscribed during its 36th Session held in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation (26 June to 4 July), Birthplace of Jesus: Church of the Nativity and the Pilgrimage Route, Bethlehem, Palestine on UNESCO’s World Heritage in Danger List. The secret voting of 13 to 6 and 2 abstentions took place on Friday, June 29, 2012.
