"THE TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE HERITAGE THAT EXISTS FROM PREVIOUS GENERATIONS PROVIDES A LINK BETWEEN PEOPLE AND THEIR PAST"
Within the various awareness programmes CCHP is implementing in the Bethlehem District, it was celebrated on the 9th of February the completion of the Community Mapping Project with students at Dar Al-Shomali in Beit Sahour, which was rehabilitated in 2009 to serve as a headquarter for Rafiq Ad-Darb Society for People with Special Needs.
As a part of a field visit to the rehabilitation projects, Bethlehem Mayor, Dr. Victor Batarseh, accompanied with Bethlehem City Director, Mr. Tony Morcus, and Arch Issam Juha, Director of Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation visited two of the projects in Bethlehem City, which are being implemented at the moment.
As part of the public awareness activities, BeitJalaMunicipality and CCHP in cooperation with Al-Hara Theatre held a workshop about the rehabilitation of St. George Hosh Complex for the adaptive reuse of Al-Hara Theatre Arts Training Centre which is funded by the Italian Government through the Palestinian Municipalities Support Program (PMSP).
Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation, in cooperation with the Alternative Tourism Group ATG and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities hosted Students of Tourism Development form London Metropolitan University and the University of East London in a training workshop on employing the cultural heritage resources for the development of the tourism sector.
