"THE TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE HERITAGE THAT EXISTS FROM PREVIOUS GENERATIONS PROVIDES A LINK BETWEEN PEOPLE AND THEIR PAST"
Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) celebrated the completion of rehabilitation works of Dar Al-Bandak in Bethlehem, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency "Sida", under the patronage of Governor of Bethlehem Mr. Abdul Fatah Hamayel. Dar Al-Bandak building is currently being used Bethlehem Fair Trade Artisans (BFTA).
In partnership with Bethlehem Municipality, CCHP held a workshop about "The Rehabilitation Project of Hosh Al-Syrian and reusing it as a Guest House", funded by the Italian government through the Paletinian Municipality Support Programme (PMSP). The workshop took place in Bethlehem Municipality and was attended by Dr. Victor Batarseh mayor of Bethlehem, Fr. Boutros Nie'meh the pastor of Syrian Orthodox Church, Mr. Antonio la Rocca PMSP representative and Arch. Issam Juha director of CCHP, As well as council members, and locals from Bethlehem city.
The Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation prints and starts the distribution of "Cultural Heritage… A Tool for Development -Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation: A Key Player"; a book that sheds the light on the efforts of the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation in preserving the cultural heritage resources in Bethlehem Governorate. The book, which lies in 128 pages explains thoroughly the rehabilitation of traditional buildings for the adaptive reuse of community institutions through the 'Job Creation through Rehabilitation' Programme; a programme funded by the Swedish Government through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), and implemented in Bethlehem Governorate by the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation.
Within its wide collection of rehabilitation projects funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency "Sida", the Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation has signed the agreements to rehabilitate Hosh and the Holy Land Trust which will be using the building after rehabilitation as a headquarter for its activities.
